The history behind QuaidBowl.com
QuaidBowl
origins date back to 1995. On average, I usually
bowl between 5-7 leagues a season. I decided to start
keeping track of my scores on a spreadsheet because
I wanted
to
analyze my progress throughout the season.
After a few seasons had passed I started to see
interesting patterns in how I was bowling but my
spreadsheets were limited to the type of analysis
I was looking for. At that point
I decided to use my design and programming skills
to write a desktop application that improved on the
existing spreadsheet functionality.
After several iterations of refining the functions
and features I decided to start thinking about a
way to publish my program so that everyone who was
interested in improving their bowling could benefit
from what I've created. Coincidentally, about this
time I started to program for the Internet. It didn't
take me very long to connect the dots and realize
that the ultimate medium in which I can allow
other active bowlers to utilize my software would
be the Internet. Hence, I started working on the
specifications for QuaidBowl.com.
In 2001, I released QuaidBowl.com version 1.0. I
mainly used this version for myself and other close
friends who were interested in tracking their scores.
As the years went by I continued to add features
and functionality.
Today, QuaidBowl.com has hundreds of pro-active
bowlers from around the world who utilize the features
and functions to improve their bowling. Everyday
new members
join to experience the convenience of accessing their
scores 24 hours a day and interacting with fellow QuaidBowl
members.
Scores
Regardless if you
bowling in one league or 10, QuaidBowl
can keep track of all your leagues and scores with
its easy to use interface.
Once a bowling season is complete you can keep track
of your new season scores with one simple step.
Over time you can review your scores
and averages across multiple seasons.
All of the data members enter into the QuaidBowl
system is stored on an Enterprise level database
system. This system exists on a dedicated server
that is backed up daily and is located in a protected
data center. There
is NO LIMIT to the number of scores you can enter
at QuaidBowl or the number of leagues you can join.
Friends
One
of the most powerful features at QuaidBowl is the "Friends" feature.
This feature allows you to view the scores and averages
of your friends and gives you the ability to congratulate
them on their success.
For example, let's say you have a friend in El Paso
Texas who enjoys bowling as much as
you do and is a QuaidBowl member. Rather than talking
over the phone or writing an e-mail you
can immediately view their scores as soon as they
enter them into the system. If they throw a relatively
high series or game you can send them a congratulation
message.
Bowling houses and leagues
QuaidBowl contains a huge database full of bowling
houses and leagues throughout the world. You can
search for any bowling house by the Center
Name, City or state.
If the bowling house or league you are looking for
is not in the system, you can submit a convenient
registration form.
